History of Bog Oak
Bog Oak is dug from the Great Oak Forest that covered a large area of Ireland four to six thousand years ago. When these Oak Trees fell into swamps, they later turned into bogs, the chemistry of the bog reacted with the wood, preserved and transformed it with its unique colour and shapes.
Now at the hands of the artist, this ancient wood is given a new life in unique and ageless sculptures.
While Brendan works with those pieces his mind often reverts back to Ireland of the era when the original trees stood majestically twenty or thirty feet tall and now having been miraculously preserved, emerge blinking in the sunlight after thousands of years of slumber in mother earth.
